Natalee and Fran, owners of Paper Scissors Rock
It all started in…
2018 when Fran and Natalee got the opportunity to purchase Saxon By Design, a well-established salon in Howick, they jumped at the chance to work together again. They knew they wanted to make the salon theirs and in 2020 rebranded to Paper Scissors Rock with a new fitout.
They both love their new salon and have succeeded in creating a space and vibe where clients and staff feel comfortable and have fun. The plan is to grow their little gem in Howick and look forward to welcoming you to experience Paper Scissors Rock.
Behind them is a team of talented people, who make the salon the place it is, so let’s meet the rest of the team.
Meet The Team
Leo
Leo (Leonora) is a superstar at pixie cuts and fine hair. As someone with fine hair herself, she understands it well. She enjoys doing pixie cuts as she likes to help people be funky and modern while staying classy.
She loves that Paper Scissors Rock is a friendly, welcoming salon that caters to individual needs professionally. Outside of work you’ll find her reading, walking or meditating.
Trish
Trish says she has too many years’ experience to remember! She still loves to perm and body wave (a form of a dying art if you will). She loves making people feel good about themselves so why not start with hair?
She loves Paper Scissors Rock because it’s a beautiful, spacious salon to work in with a big variety of talented hair stylists, all with their individual sense of humour… a bit like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get on any given day! Outside of work she loves doing yoga, pilates, gardening and catching up with friends and family.
Taka
Taka is an excellent stylist from Japan who has made his home in New Zealand.
He is with us Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays. He specialises and loves cutting Women and mens hair. Experience his renowned head massages and you won’t be disappointed!

Harata
Harata is a bubbly fun senior colourist who loves creative colour. Harata loves her work. it’s a welcome break from being a mum of 7!
Jess
After owning her own salon for 20 years Jessica has a wealth of knowledge for customer care, and attention to detail. Jessica is known for her impressive skill set, specialising in all aspects of colouring and cutting.
She is trained to the highest level, and is continuously educating herself. Colour is her forte, she has a strong focus on thoughtfully crafted, and flattering colours, perfectly tailored to every one of her clients. All the while priding herself in giving her clients the best possible service. Even though Jessica has an extensive client list, she always welcomes new clients.
Outside of the salon, she can be found somewhere in nature, enjoying a good hike with friends. She looks forward to welcoming you to Paper Scissors Rock.
Laska
Laska is our apprentice with a natural flair for hairdressing and a great future in front of her. Laska is great to have around the salon, and always happy to help and learn.
